8 exotic animals in Pakistan you wouldn't believe exist !


1. Soft Shelled Sea Turtle



This weird looking sea  turtle is one of the most rarest sea turtles found around the world! They may be referred to as Trionychidae or pancake turtles due to their unique looking shell.

2. Himalayan Monal Pheasant



Found on the peaks of Himalayas, this bird is full of distinguishable colours! It is the national bird of Nepal and state bird of India. Normally the males are distinguished by their darker colours progressing to their tales unlike the females. They may also be known as Danphe.

3. Red Fox



The reddish golden fur of this fox attracts animal lovers from around the world. It is also considered to be the most hunted fox around the world and has a great history associated with humans. 

4. Blue Whale




The blue whale is one of the largest whale ever existed! Due to  beautiful Bluish and Blackish patterns on their body, they became extremely endangered species of mammals by the 12th century and it was estimated that around 5000-12000 blue whales existed till mid 2014 however under International community and the current stats represent 10000-25000 of them living in the oceans world wide.

5. The fishing cat



This dramatic looking cat is seriously threatened by the changing ecological and atmospheric conditions and may become extinct if not protected. These cats are twice the size of the domestic cats and as depicted by their name the consume fish specially tuna!

6. White Headed Duck


This beautiful white headed duck is abundantly present in the open lakes of Pakistan and it's blue beak is among the many natural miracles on earth! the females although have a golden brown beak However, they are also endangered due to their seriously declining population.

7. Snow Leopard




Admired around the world due to its beautiful and mysterious white fur, this leopard is found in the northern mountains of Pakistan namely Himalayas, Karakorum and Hindukush ranges. This ferocious animal is a great camouflager in the peaks of the ranges! On an average these northern beasts weigh around 50-70 kg and are fast runners. 








8. Indus River Dolphin


Found in the lower Indus Basin, these dolphins are easily distinguishable do to their elongated jaw and spiky teeth! However, these species of dolphins are highly endangered and as less as 1000 remain in the Indus river.
